Isn't It Time to Choose Another Way?

We can do better than this.

Everything that's happening now -- our personal struggles and sacrifices, the economic meltdown, global warming, even the corruption and power games played in Washington and abroad -- is allowing us to realize that what we've created isn't serving us very well.

And by seeing beyond the surface of the symptoms playing out to their underlying causes, we can choose another way.

What way is that? Well, that's for each of us to decide after searching inside for our part in the mess we now see.

How many of us work jobs where we find no joy and little support, whether financial or otherwise?

How many of us neglect our bodies for so long until they break down or rebel with life-threatening diseases?

How many blindly support a system where those in power vie with others who want it, each doing their best to marshal the support of enough people to get their way -- and manipulating the discussion and flow of information until they do.

We all do, to one extent or another. We buy into the idea that money is the root of all evil (except for those who've got lots of it). We sell ourselves for pittances to live in housing that costs too much and fill it with stuff that we really don't need -- at least with all the frills they use to entice us to choose one brand over another.

We think we need expensive vacations, spending our hard-earned blood money to take cruises to nowhere or indulge ourselves at luxurious fantasy resorts designed to make us forget the realities of life, if only for a moment.

Yet all of this is possible only because we find no joy or meaning in the lives we're living, much less contentment with the things we fill them with.

If we did, perhaps we'd still have them. Then again, perhaps we'd choose other pursuits, like fulfilling work that more than adequately provides for all our needs. Or maybe even add some contribution by giving life to our inspirations, lending a hand to those in need, or just giving a loving smile to a heavy heart.

But before we can free ourselves from the current mess, we've got to get to the bottom of why it is the way it is. And that is self-interest run wild.

There's no effort to balance our own desires with those of others. And with no one to look out for us and making sure our lives are okay, we're not comfortable doing it for anyone else.

In short, we've created a dog-eat-dog, every man (and woman) for himself/herself world. Getting what we can, while we can. And if we step on someone's toes or do something that negatively impacts others to get it, oh well, that's life.

For us to move beyond this status quo, we've got to know -- absolutely know -- that this life isn't all there is. That there is not only an after life, but that three is an ever-life, and we're living it right now beyond this one where we're blinded by an illusion of separation from the wholeness that we are.

When we realize that we are so much more than we know within these encapsulated egos, we can begin to accept that this life can be used for whatever purpose we want it to serve.

For those awakening to an expanding consciousness, they can fill it with love and light, practicing ever-greater ways of sharing it with others. And when there's not enough for all (including them), to balance it in a way that serves all.

Perhaps there will be some who want to continue to live in the three-dimensional struggles of this dualistic world. And to them I say more power to you. Just don't let your self-centered ways bleed over to ruin the experience of everyone else.

Maybe we can live together in peace. I, however, tend to think that those wedded to the old ways won't roll over so easily.

So I suggest that we start creating a parallel society to which those leaning toward the light can gravitate, learning to work in new ways with others of similar vibration. And in the process, neutralizing the efforts of the old guard that want to keep us with them.

We can use the experience of life in a better way, and create a world that reflects something more than runaway fear and desire.

But to do so means knowing who we are and what we're about.

So, if you're reading this, I ask you. Who are you? What are you all about?

Are you about struggle, sacrifice and conflict? Are you about games of power and greed? Are you about living without integrity for your highest attributes? Are you about abdicating responsibility for your relationship with the rest of the world, or making your contribution to the whole?

I think not, and that you are about something more. And I invite you to join me as we build a New World free of the things in this one that no longer serve us.
